President's Message

Carry His Light

President Karen DruryWomen in Mission from all over Missouri gathered in Kansas City for the 23rd Biennial Convention of the LWML Missouri District, June 20-22, 2014. The theme of the convention was “Carry His Light”, based on Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
CARRY What an awesome responsibility it is when we are asked to “carry” something important that belongs to another individual. We are to be careful, respecting that which we have been asked to carry. We definitely do not want to drop whatever we are carrying. Those of you that carried a banner during the processional know exactly to what I am referring. Dropping the banner would have been embarrassing. In this case, all of us are asked to “carry” something that belongs to God.
HIS God has entrusted to us this wonderful task of carrying and sharing His message of salvation. It is not something that we should take nonchalantly. We have been called to be His disciples. It is not about me or what I do. It is all about Him and giving the glory to God for all He has done.
LIGHT This “Light” that we are carrying is important. You may not think you or your “little light” is important, but hold on. It has been said that our eyes can see the light from one candle 10 miles away. Wow! That’s incredible! Now, remember that “Light” you are carrying is God’s Light. It is effective as it shines through us.
My prayer, for all of us, is to “Carry His Light” each day. When we drop His Light, ask for forgiveness. When our light is dim, pray for the Holy Spirit to renew His Light within us. Carry His Light proudly. Women in Mission…Let It Shine!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
